Bedford Town Trail Walk

Minnie Reid Conservation Area

Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 9:45 am

 

Note:  This month’s walk is the 2^nd Saturday of the month.

 

Please join the Bedford Trails Committee for a free walk around the Minnie Reid Conservation Area.

 

The walk will be slow-paced, 1 to 2 hours duration (longer if we go all the way to Two Brothers Rocks). We will start and finish at the Minnie Reid Conservation Area trailhead, on Rt. 4 where North Road splits off from Chelmsford Road (please do NOT park in Renzo’s parking lot). The trail goes past a certified vernal pool and through wetlands, almost to the Concord River.  If the group wishes, we can continue as far as Two Brothers Rocks, at the river, before turning around. On the way in, we will check out the relatively new Coffin and Daughters of St. Paul Conservation Areas.   When and        Meet at 9:45 AM in the Where:   parking lot behind the Bedford Free Public Library.    Leader:  Dan Hurwitz, Bedford Trails Committee

 

Notes:   Children and dogs are welcome. 

We will walk regardless of the weather – rain or shine.

It will be buggy, including both mosquitos and ticks.  Dress appropriately and/or use insect repellant.

The walk will cover trails that may be muddy, rough, uneven, and hilly.  Please wear comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes or boots that can handle the weather.

Should people meet  at the Minnie Reid Conservation Area trailhead or the Bedford Public Library? It seems to be listed both ways.

The official meeting place is behind the Library at 9:45am.  If people would rather wait for us at the trailhead to start, that is certainly ok.  However, we will not be waiting at the trailhead for any late arrivals.
