Hello,

I'am in an internship and i use the Beckhoff controller EK 1100 (terminal 7201) to control a brushless motor and i use a controller ( Xworks ) to communicate with the drive, I ask is it possible to use labview to control the motor without using a controller?

I would very much appreciate any help you are able to give me.

Hello Attig,

The EK1100 is an EtherCAT bus coupler, so therefore to communicate with the terminals on the coupler you will need to set up the EtherCAT fieldbus system. You will first need to implement an EtherCAT master to run the feildbus.

Their are a few masters available including from Beckhoff, Omron, Etherlab and National Instruments. If your goal is to use Labview, I would try the National Instruments EtherCAT implementation.

Cheers, Shaun.
