My DH found a great new site that tracks what you eat, what exercises
you do, and your weight and fitness goals. Basically, it's exactly
like the Weight Watchers site, but without the monthly fee. It even
gives you recipes and you can join groups depending on how much weight
you want to lose.

The site is called "Gyminee", located at www.gyminee.com. I'm on
there under my user name of "Becka". DH is there under "jimgoings"
and my friend Joleine is on there under "Joleine". If you want to
sign up and join us over there, feel free! I know we haven't done
much in this group lately, but since I had my little one, I'm ready to
hop back on the wagon, as it were.

Since giving birth on January 3rd, my weight has dropped
significantly. About 33 pounds, all told. Obviously, this wasn't all
fat weight, and I didn't go on some crash diet. LOL Most of that
weight was baby, fluids, water retention, placenta, enlarged uterus,
etc. I found out I'd lost 17 pounds since my pre-pregnancy weight.
You better believe I had to stare at the scale for a few moments to
process that. Most women gain weight while pregnant. I did, about 15
pounds. But that wasn't fat weight.

So now, my "skinny fat jeans" are too loose on me. I keep griping I
need to go buy new clothes, but the store I need to buy from is a
little out of the way, so I'm not entirely motivated to go there...
Even though I might be down a size, I still gotta shop at the fat lady
store. :( However, I'm seeing sizes I haven't been acquainted with
for YEARS. :P

DH and I have started exercising together, doing our walking videos.
He suggested doing them before he goes to work, but considering that
he leaves for work at 7am, plus time to get ready for work, plus
exercise time, we'd be getting up at like 5:30am, that didn't appeal
to me at all. Especially with a wee one I'm getting up to feed once a
night. My sleep is a precious commodity these days! So, we've been
exercising when DH gets home from work, before we make dinner. He's
getting home earlier these days than he used to, so that's
convenient. It's a little hard to do it at the end of the day, but I
don't think I could get up early and do it in the wee hours of the
morning.

Honestly, for me, I think the secret to my losing weight is eating a
sensible breakfast every morning. Lately, I've been on a Special K
kick, the kind with the strawberries in it. I don't eat that kind for
the strawberries, but because the flakes taste better to me than
regular Special K. Maybe the sugars from the strawberries rubs off on
them, I don't know. :P I also eat Honey Nut Cherrios, Kix, or a
cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese. Sometimes on the bagel
mornings, I'll also have a yogurt.

Obviously watching portions is...obvious. :P Because of my diabetes,
I have to watch them anyhow, but I still want to be able to go out to
eat or eat things I'm used to eating. I don't want to deprive myself,
because I know that won't be a "lifestyle change".

Like my hubby says, you never (or hardly ever) see a skinny person
eating only tofu, salads and grilled chicken. All the skinny people I
know eat what they like, only less of it. Sure, there's a science
behind less carbs, more protein, etc. I'm not saying that's not
valid, I just don't want to deny myself a slice of birthday cake in
the name of losing weight. A small slice should be just fine. Now
half the cake... you gotta problem. :P

Losing 17 pounds while pregnant is just awesome!  I'm just flabbergasted because I've never heard of anyone doing that before.  You should be proud and thrilled with yourself!  Finding out your "skinny jeans" are too big . . . what a good feeling that must be!

I'm planning to check out the "gyminee" thing soon.  Just been working to many hours and weekend days to find time to be on the computer at home.  It sounds good though, so I'm sure I'll be joining you all there soon.

Off to work for me.  Have a great day!

Love, Mom
