Hi there!

My name is Jacob and I'm new to this group! It's really
hard to find a good weight loss group with all that spam.

Anyway, I'm a regular guy and I try to lose weight the
natural way. I tried a few weight loss programs and they
are good but it always burns down "eat healthy" and "move
your butt". :-)

I think the real value in those weightloss programs lies in the
burst of motivation they give you. You get a new ebook, read
it through and you feel like there is a hot fire in your heart that
tells you "Yosh! This time you will see through with it-definitely".
But after a few days you get off the wagon and feel like you're in
a slump. I also tend to beat up myself about "sinning" and stuff.

What do you think about weightloss programs?

I also started to put together a blogger blog with some tips that
shall motivate my future readers. Please tell me what you think.

Here's the link: http://proven-fitness-tips.blogspot.com/

If it is not okay to post links, just delete it! :-)

Anyway, glad to join this group!

Jacob,

Welcome!  Nice to have a new person in the group.   My view on weight loss programs . . . in general, they don't work for me long-term and long-term is what I'm striving for.  I've done Atkins, South Beach, Dr. Phil's Plan, high-carb, low-carb, no carb, high protein, low protein, etc., etc.

I've come to the conclusion that, as you said, eat healthy and move your butt.  That is the "plan" I am planning to adhere to long-term.  Thus far, it is working for me.  I'm not losing as fast as I did on the diet plans, but I'm feeling more stable, more confident that this is something I can do for life.

You are right, weight loss programs and book give one a burst of inspiration, but it's usually not long-lasting.  I think one has to find the long lasting motivation inside him/herself.  I used to have a day or two of falling off the diet wagon and that was the end . . . I'd just give up and go back to bad eating.  Now, I allow myself one day a week to eat the more sinful foods (a piece of cake, chocolate, ice cream, buttery mashed potatoes) while still staying within my allotted daily calories limit.  The rest of the week, I eat things I like but I stay with low/no fat, low/no sugar, whole grains, lean meats, etc.  I'm not depriving myself or my tastebuds and it works.  Also, I exercise a minimum of an hour (and often two) hours a day - walking, aerobics, exercise videos, Wii Fit, exercycle,  resistance band, hand weights.  I've made exercise a daily habit to the point that I actually miss it if a situation arises where I can't fit it in.

Again, welcome to the group.  I hope you find lots of useful information and support here.
