Well, in case not all of you know, I'm 10 weeks pregnant. When I
found out, I was filled with both anticipation and trepidation, as
losing weight had been a big goal of mine for the rest of this year.
I knew being pregnant, weight gain was inevitable, and I'd have to
wait even longer to get anywhere close to slim.

SIGH

Well, I've actually been doing very well weight-wise. I've been able
to maintain my weight within a small window, pretty much 3 pounds.
Day by day, it fluxuates, and that's to be expected with pregnancy, or
so I've heard. True, I'm not that far along, and I can just hear
y'all thinkin', just wait until that little one starts to really GROW.

I know, I know. I'm hoping, however, that any weight I may gain will
be baby weight only, no fat. Even now, I know I've lost weight since
being pregnant, because of the expansion of breast tissue, blood
volume, and uterus size all contribute to weight. Since I'm
maintaining, it means I'm losing *something*, even if the baby only
weighs the same as a couple of paperclips at the moment. LOL The
rest of the tissues in my body have thickened and grown, however,
meaning some weight must have been lost.

With this said, my jeans are a little more snug. *sobs* Just when I
was excited to fit back into them again, I'll have to dust off my "fat
pants" once again. I can still fit into them, but whenever I eat, I
need to "unbutton" if you know what I mean. It's hard to see with all
my weight, but my little baby bump is growing.

I have been eating a little more than usual lately, as I've been SO
HUNGRY, but I've also been drinking like a fish, both water and green
tea, mostly, as well as eating breakfast every single day. I do
believe the breakfast combined with the green tea has sped up my
metabolism and is probably the main reason I've been maintaining my
weight, because Lord knows I haven't been regularly exercising
lately. I've been feeling very nauseated and TIRED lately. I've been
known to take two naps, then go to bed early. I just have no energy
for it. But I'm hoping in a little while, my energy will return after
the first trimester (which is over in two weeks!), and I'll get back
into it.

Anyhow, that's the update from me. Have a great weekend, and I hope
you have a Happy Father's Day! :D

Becka,

I think you are doing very well in maintaining, especially with being so tired and not feeling like exercising.  I hope your second trimester will find you with a bit more energy.  Don't give up on your weight loss goals - keep working at it.  Just imagine the humongous loss it will be once you have the baby if you manage to maintain weight throughout your pregnancy.  That will be like a 20-30 pound loss in one fell swoop!

Have a good weekend.  Love you lots!  Mom
