I'm here I'm here..

I went to the doctor yesterday and she too is concerned about my weight just staying put despite diet and exercise changes(as well as other symptoms I have) so she ran a whole slew of blood work and we'll go from there I guess.  But hubby and I did get out yesterday after work and walk our puppy (he's only 11 weeks old so this was his first walk) for about 30-45 minutes.  It was a nice walk, but I didn't change into walking shoes and had fancy boots on so my feet are killing me!  I plan on walking him again tonight and the next and next... Now I just need to get up the energy to wake up early in the morning and walk him then too :)

Hopefully they figure out what is wrong.  I am thinking it is your thyroid.  Been living with that for more than 1/2 of my life.

I gained 7 lbs which is not hard for me to do.  I have lost 4 of those pounds.  I tend to bounce around a lot with my weight.

My fiance was down helping me for several weeks as we have so much to do with estates matters (cleaning up everything at the farm (which will take years), cutting down trees at a town property which we still need to get leveled and prepared for a new trailer that he still has to pick out).  I am getting ready for another antique auction, so getting things out from the farm and bringing them to town and cleaning them and I have no energy left after I finish working at the school.  July and August are out busiest months as that is when we clean the whole school to have it ready for school in September.  Thank God school is finished next Friday.  There are major changes going on with our school and there will be a lot of movement involved.  K-3 has been closed here and will only have 4-12.  The little town next to us has closed 4-8 and will have all of the K-3 for the whole area.  This was done so that their school was not closed.  We could not house all of the kids as we are overcrowded now, as it is.  We have more kids coming to school here than what there are residents in the town.  There will be around 300 students for next year which is more than what we have right now.

I have been reading emails when I can.

Joliene,

I'm so happy to hear from you!  I'm glad your doctor is checking things out.  I'm also thrilled that you are getting into the walking habit.  That new puppy will be an inspiration.  What fun!  I highly recommend good old walking shoes though - fancy boots . . . ouch! :-)  I bet your feet are screaming at you this morning.

So far, I've been able to get up at 5 a.m. each morning before work and get an hours worth of aerobics/treadmill in.  I am pretty well dragging by the end of my work day though.  I figure my body will get used to the new schedule after a couple of weeks.  (I hope)

I'd best get to my actual work here.  Talk with you later!

Kat,

Good to hear from you; and congrats on losing four of the pounds you gained.  I've been a yoyo for many years, so I can empathize.

It sounds like you are getting plenty of exercise what with cleaning, cutting down, preparing for auctions . . . that's quite a schedule . . . and a lot of calories burned in the process.  I'm certain you'll lose those other 3 pounds in no time!

Gained one pound recently, but being pregnant, that is to be expected.  I've been slacking on working out, but I've been trying to be good on my diet, even if we eat "bad" food.  But I've noticed that I don't gain, even if I eat calorie-rich food or a bigger portion.  This might be due to the fact the baby needs an extra 300 calories a day, so my body doesn't pack on the pounds.  But sometimes I have to wonder if I ate like that when I wasn't pregnant...  :P  I'd probably be gaining a lot faster than I am.  LOL

I want to take a walk to the grocery store today, but the construction and heavy machinery working on my street might put a damper on my plans.  Their equipment is doing something so "heavy", that when they drop it or make a loud bang, the entire house shakes!  Not so sure I want to hike four kids through a construction zone...  :(

I wish we didn't live on a cul-de-sac.  If I had somewhere *else* in the neighborhood to walk, I probably would.

When I lived in a different part of the province, my friend who has MS and I would drive to a place where we could go for a very nice walk.  It was around a lake where there were ducks and other fowl life.  Beautifully landscaped with benches to sit down for a rest, a trail where you could walk, jog or ride your bike, people could take their dogs for a walk.  Sometimes, you just have to go somewhere else to get that peace and tranquility from a walk.  She was not able to do the entire walk without sitting down several times but, viewing the scenery and watching the birds and other people at this place brought an inner calm that was greatly needed.

Becka,

Now that schools are out for the summer, what if you drove to an elementary school and walked the track?  Each loop around a track is 1/4 mile.. Would also help you figure out how far you've walked?  Then that way the kiddos can play on the play equipment too :)

I know that driving somewhere to walk defeats the purpose.. but the track is a nice even material and would be less impact than trying to walk on concrete and rocks and junk in a construction zone :)

Stepped on the scale this morning, it said I lost two pounds. I
didn't believe it, so I moved it to a different part of the floor
(lol) and stepped on it again - same result. I do get "cravings" for
a late night sweet that I've been ignoring for the most part, probably
due to the fact that after dinner, I feel very full and uncomfortable,
and most of the time at night, I'm kind of blurgh when it comes to
thinking about eating again. :P

Perhaps not eating those late night sweets has paid off. Heheh I'm
also drinking about two 16 oz. bottles of green tea a day along with
water and consistently eating breakfast. Still too tired/
uncomfortable to get any good workouts in, but my nausea has been
tapering off and so has my fatigue. They're still there, but not as
bad as it was in weeks past. I also don't move as fast as I used to,
not that I used to move like a gazelle, but that the weight and
fullness in my pelvis just has me walking slower these days. I'm only
11 weeks along, folks. I'm actually dreading the later months.
Yikes!

First "official" doctor's appt is in one week, next Friday. Why they
scheduled me out so late, I'll never know. I did see the nurse on the
10th, who took my weight, my family history, made sure I was pregnant,
took my blood pressure and some bloodwork. They do this so your first
doc visit is right to the point rather than having to take care of all
that. Anyhow, I'm hoping I can maintain this weight. I've been lucky
because the baby is tiny right now. But once it starts to grow...
SIGH

Two pounds is great, Becka!  Congratulations!  I'm thinking you will do very well with maintaining your weight during your pregnancy.  At any rate, give yourself credit for the great job you are doing so far!

I was all happy because I got back down to my pre-vacation weight, but now I appear to be stuck somewhat.  I showed a gain of 2 pounds yesterday (in one day), but I think that's because I gave into my craving for something crunchy and salty and had several Fritos.  Salt and me don't get along too well - makes me retain water something fierce.  I don't add salt to food, but sometimes nothing will do but a potatoe or corn chip.  I'll go saltless the next few days and hope those 2 pounds disappear.  I've been keeping up with my exercise very consistently, so any weight gain is definitely not due to lack of exercise.

I had to laugh when you said you moved the scale around to a different part of the floor.  I've done the same thing when I just don't believe what I see.  :-)
