Anyone have any tips for things that can stop the munchies? I heard a
really great tip that would stop me from munching - right after
dinner, brush your teeth. Having a clean, fresh taste in your mouth
will stop you from binging at night in front of the tv with a bag of
chips or ice cream. I, personally, cannot stand to eat something
right after I brush my teeth, because it taints the flavor of the
food. Even more so if I gargle with mouthwash.

That's one way to stop late night snacking if you absolutely cannot
control your urges. :P

Also, I've heard eating toast with peanut butter on it (protein and
carbs) fills you up for longer, and gives you the "good" kind of fat
in the peanut butter. Of course, you should probably only eat one
slice of toast and a moderate amount of PB. So that might be a good
snack that can fill you up till dinner time.

Luckily for me, we just don't buy stuff that is easy to snack/munch.. the only snacky/munchy food we have is plain popcorn and it has to be popped on the stove.. I just don't buy it, so I wont be tempted.. Otherwise, all I would do is eat snacks.. Probably not as easy when you have kids, as they like snacks and can eat them without putting on a ton of weight.. heh..

Of course, I still can't lose weight.. hrm.

Good tip.  The nutritionist/fitness dude who does the Fire District's fitness assessments each year told me that Smart Balance Peanut Butter is the healthiest peanut butter to use.  Less sugar in it.  I've been using it since he told me about it last year and like it a lot.

I need tips on how to put a halt to binging.  I can go along eathing like I should for weeks and then I'll hit a day when I just can't stop eating . . . I graze like a cow, yet never feel full.  I hate those days because one day like that takes 3 or 4 days to get the calories burned off.  Anyone else have this problem?  Any tips on how to put the brakes on?

My hubby grazes like that all the time.  Once in a while, I will get those hunger pangs and want to munch, especially when watching TV.  I spend lots of time on the computer and my mind is taken off the 'eating' thing.  Still doesn't help to lose the weight, though.

Try drinking some water or focus your attention on something that you enjoy.  Are you bored when you get those munchy cravings?  Sometimes it is psychological.  Is something worrying you and then you want to eat?  Even sleep deprivation causes changes in your internal clock and you eat to get fuel to keep going.
