Thanks to Sandy Porter for bringing this to my attention. See you
there! Randy

Join the eScience Institute for “eScience Pub Night”

March 8th, 6 PM @ The College Inn Pub
Dave Henderson, Sage Bionetworks
“Data filtering and multiple hypothesis testing in large data sets”

The rapid emergence of a new world of science driven by very large
scale data, advances in data acquisition technology, next-generation
instruments, sensors, and simulations has lead to a generational shift
in research that affects a host of disciplines from engineering to
medicine.

This "data deluge" requires new solutions in data management,
visualization, and data mining, as well as new approaches to
provisioning the underlying computational infrastructure. The eScience
Institute was created to work with researchers to solve the problems
that researchers face when dealing with large scale data issues.

March 8th, 6 PM will feature Dave Henderson from the newly created
Sage Bionetworks. Sage is a not-for-profit research organization that
aims to build and support open access platforms and databases as a
tool to build large scale predictive network models of disease.

Join us every 2nd Monday of the month at the College Inn Pub to
discuss all things eScience. This is a great opportunity to learn,
discuss, share ideas, and network.
