Emergent Behaviors from a Cellular Automaton Model for Invasive Tumor Growth in Heterogeneous Microenvironments

"Theoretical/computational cancer modeling that integrates distinctly different mechanisms for tumorigenesis, when appropriately linked with experimental and clinical data, offers a promising avenue for a better understanding of tumor growth, invasion and metastasis. A successful model would enable one to broaden the conclusions drawn from existing medical data, suggest new experiments, test hypotheses, predict behavior in experimentally unobservable situations, and be employed for early detection and prognosis"
