Has anybody used the BMW serise3 convertible seats in their cars...ie the ones with the in built seat belts. I'm still building my car...2 years now...and looking at viable options. I'm not mad keen on the bracing bar for the front seat belts that attches into the door pillar.

Hi, I used seats with built in achorages in a car I built in about 1994. I can't remember what car they came from, but they were OK for SVA at the time. I Assume that the IVA rules are similar. The upper mounting must be at least 450mm above a reference point on the seat.
The drawing from the IVA manual is attached. I hope this helps.
Let us know how you get on.
Regards,

Just another thing to consider if using this type of seat. The seat mountings will become the seatbelt mountings and must comply to the same rules concerning anchorage points and bolts used which are 7/16" HT or metric equivalent. Bolting to the wooden floor will not be acceptable.
