I have just received my annual insurance renewal from Footman James for the two Beauford wedding cars that I run.

The total premium has doubled in a year.  Public liability insurance was included but now is an extra £276.

I haven't had any claims and my details are the same, I appreciate that costs do rise, but double!!!!!

Any suggestions for alternative companies that provide suitable insurance cover would be appreciated.

Hi Baz, I have 1 beauford and my renewal is not due until May, so can't compare this year, I use Backford Bloor (advert in owners club mag) as reccomended by guy I bought the car off. They inc. everything in premium Was £400 plus last year with up to 5 extra drivers and liability inc. and areed value, or if restricted to 1 driver £300 plus (just forget exact amounts). I have mine with Peter James on a wedding multi car policy. Last June it cost me £1000 for 5 cars, any driver over 25 incl public liability. Wonder what that will become.

It appears that FJ have decided to increase kit car insurance significantly above any previously agreed levels this year.  I await my renewal for my Beauford insurance from FJ with interest for after 14 years with FL I recently received a quote for my Quantum from them significantly above the specially agreed quoted level for the Quantum Club.  I went to Adrian Flux, who offered me all I got from FJ for £100 less without even asking.  I got a very reasonable agreed value from them having sent copies of photos showing the current state of the car.

 

For information, I arranged insurance for our Toylander 1/3 scale Landrover last year through a local broker, which cost me ~£76 inclusive of PLI, as the grandchildren use it in the park opposite and are usually mobbed by other children wanting a ride, which can be dangerous as they run into the path of the vehicle without thinking.
