I've just about had enough with Focusrite's garbage software/drivers on Windows 10 with pops/dropouts and BSODs on boot. I literally cant boot my pc if my scarlett 18i8 (2nd gen) is plugged in, TWO different pcs one is brand new lol. I've had driver issues from the moment I bought this piece of trash. Their customer support is horrendous as well.

Even if it's maybe not the issue cause it runs stable with other apps, have you tried another USB port? And asking also focusrite is a good idea. And I guess you have of course the latest drivers and firmware updates.

Indeed, also the latest drivers of focusrite + native instruments have been installed. To be sure I uninstalled everything (drivers + software), rebooted and freshly installed latest focusrite software/drivers again first, followed by all the NI software.

Meanwhile - after troubleshooting a bit further - I also reached out to Microsoft. I notice that I can trigger a "crash" the focusrite driver just by playing a test sound multiple times in the system sound settings. I am running an insider preview build I must add (beta release). I read a similar report of another user.

I am running a Win 7 laptop. For a long while I was plugging my focusrite Scarlett 2i4 (second gen) into the 3.0 ports of the USB. Every once in a while I would get a BSOD out of the blue that would in some cases, take hours to recover from (really scary). The last time it happened in this configuration, I did a crash analysis and what I found was that the driver for the USB 3.0 was crashing. I looked for a newer version of the driver and there was none (I had a computer repair guy look at it and he could not find one).

OK, So I have looked high and low and have installed application, drivers, redone that and again and just cant understand why I cant get a sound out of the windows laptop, my 6i6 and my Archetype Plini or Gojira plugins.

On my windows settings I have chose both Speaker and Recording as the Focusrite USB assuming that I want to use that hardware to drive the recording (my guitar going into the Focusrite) and to the Recording (the headphone output on the focusrite)

Over the past 3 days, my windows 10 laptop (HP Elitebook 8770w) has crashed twice. On the blue screen of death, this file is referenced: focusriteUSBsroot.sys. Things have been working just fine (for over a year) until this happened. Any thoughts about how I should deal with it? I have the last HP motherboard firmware update (4 years old) and the latest Focusrite driver.

A word of caution, the latest update of w10 pro, has caused an incompatibility issue with focusrite saffire 40 firewire interface drivers on a buddy's system, rendering it unusable. Not sure if Win of Focusrite has any plans to address it, but figured i would air out the information in case its relavant to anyone here.

Are they using the legacy firewire driver? If so, it may have been replaced by the newer driver, which is better for everything other than audio.
