Dear all,

I am encountering an error when running an analysis in BEAST using the Hamiltonian Monte Carlo relaxed clock option while the analysis runs correctly with the standard relaxed lognormal clock (while strict clock in the discrete trait analysis).

Specifically, BEAST terminates with the following error:

Error in input BEAST XML file: Object with idref=default.locationScaleJointGradient has not been previously declared.

This issue arises consistently when selecting the Hamiltonian Monte Carlo relaxed clock in BEAUti. The XML appears to reference default.locationScaleJointGradient, but this object does not seem to be defined.

I am currently using:

  • BEAST version: Bayesian Evolutionary Analysis Utility v10.5.0 (2002–2025)

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,
Giovanni
