Hi Beast-users,

Sorry to bother you. I want to paint differnt colors in a 'cartoon' triangle according to sample origins or amounts in proportion. Just like the picture accached.

So what can I achieve it? It would be appreciated if you can help me!

All the best,
Panxin

I'm sure there are a vast number of ways to do this. I'll be looking forward to some of the user responses to see what others do!!

I personally export a .svg from Figtree and edit it using Adobe illustrator. I like this because it allows editing of all aspects of the tree: tip names, branches, etc. You could probably also export a .jpg or other format and edit in photoshop or other imaging editing software. I know some folks that prep in powerpoint. Illustrator has a bit of a learning curve, and it can be costly ($). I use it because I primarily becuase I already have it for taxonomic illustrations.

Hope that helps

I also prefer exporting the .svg file and edit on illustrator. The .svg file can also be edited on Inkscape which is open source albeit with a steeper learning curve comparable to illustrator.

Yes! It is a good idea to do this using AI or PS. I want to see if other more convient or intelligent way like directly change the parameters in tree file output by FigTree.

Best,
Panxin
