Hi,

I can't launch the BEAST 1 GUI in Monterey or Big Sur, as downloaded from https://beast.community/install_on_mac or https://github.com/beast-dev/beast-mcmc/releases, without getting the attached error. I have Java 17 installed. This has been true for a long time but normally I just work around it. The same box pops up for BEAUTi, Tracer, and the rest. I see the text "The Mac version of BEAST is not yet compatible with Java 10. Please use Java 8 or 9." on https://beast.community/install_on_mac, but Java 10 was released in 2018. Is there no easy fix for this? This isn't a problem for personal use, but I need BEAST for teaching, so "use the command line" or "download Java 9" are cans of worms that I'd rather avoid opening.

Thanks, Matthew
