I'm just trying to figure out how to set additional taxon sets for calibration purposes with starbeast. My question is simply whether I should see a drop-down button that will allow the addition of a second taxon set either via the taxon set panel or after clicking the + at the bottom of the priors window? Anyone? I'd be grateful for a simple yes or no to help direct my path forward. When I view the taxon sets panel there is no obvious mechanism to set another taxon set. When I am in the Priors panel and click the + I see a button for MRCAPrior.0 but I cannot set a taxon set.

Thanks!

Hi Jim,

Did you ever figure this out?? I cannot click the MRCAPrior.0 button either, but was led to believe it is supposed to be a button that I could click and set taxon sets but this is not possible...

Yes, you click the + button at the bottom of the priors panel and this allows you to set a constraint group and its associated calibration info. Good luck!

Hmm When I click the "+" button, I do have the option to set MRCAPrior.0 but I can only set a single calibration on the entire tree, not on calibration sets? I feel like there should be a popup window somewhere that I cannot access??

I'm not sure if I understand your issue, but you can add as many calibration sets as you'd like by selecting the '+' button multiple times.

To anyone interested: The MRCAPrior.0 "button" was unclickable for me, even though I had already run an uncalibrated species tree and imported all my taxon sets in correctly. I reinstalled BEAST2.4.0 on a different computer and it solved the issue. Hopefully this helps you so you don't spend too much time trying to get the program to run when the problem seems to be an installation error.
