Tip Dating & Fixed Tree Analysis

Dear BEAST users,
I am using the Fixed Tree Analysis package in Beast version 2.7.7. I have a known topology and I am trying to infer evolutionary rates. It might sound naive but since tree topology is fixed, would it be redundant to also add tip dating on ancient taxa? Does it make sense?
