issues with tracer

Hi,

I have a log file (obtained after 10,000,000 gen. - to give an average
size), which I cannot opened in tracer 1.3-1.4.1. When I try to open
it, whatever the time waited for execution, I didn't get a response
nor an error message...

Is someone experimenting this issue also? How to fix it? Would
someone have an old version of tracer (1.2 or something) to perform a
trial?

After the replies I got from several beast/list-users, I proceeded
with varied test and found the visible cause of Tracer freezing (after
importing the file) is the file size (~54,000 Ko).

My subsequent question is then, are the log files editable manually?
Can I discard manually one part of the file and which one ideally..?

Dear Seb,

If the files are this big then you have probably sampled too
frequently. You can run them through log combiner and specify a 'down-
sampling' frequency. This should be some multiple of your original
frequency. For example if you sampled every 1000 states you could down-
sample to any multiple of 1000. We recommend that you aim to have
about 10,000 samples left in your file as a compromise between file
size and redundancy of information.
