Hello,

I am new to phylogenetic analysis but i would want to use beast2.
I have downloaded beast2 tarball from here https://github.com/CompEvol/beast2.But i cannot find any information on the installation
or the compilation the packages included.

My OS is Ubuntu v.14.Could someone give me some info as to how i can actually make this run?

Many thanks in advance
alex

Hi Alex,

If you just want to use the software, it is probably easiest to download via the link from http://www.beast2.org which contains binaries. When you unzip, scripts to start programs are in beast/bin.
Installing packages can be done via the package manager: http://www.beast2.org/managing-packages/

If you still want to compile, run ‘ant linux’ from the root of where you extracted the tar file, and the programs will be in releases/Linux/beast/bin

Cheers,

Remco
