There has been some suggestion that some users would like to be able
to show a list of all deployments made across all of their
repositories.

I would love to work on something like this, in RoR, but I don't think
I know enough to do it on my own. Is anyone interested in working on
this with me?

Thanks,

Danny

Sweet idea Danny. What specifically are you looking for help with?
Design? Programming?

Hey!

I can't take the credit for the idea, but it's definitely a great one!

To be honest, a bit of everything - I know how to get the basic stuff
setup in Rails, im still working on BaseApp2 (https://github.com/
dannyweb/BaseApp2). What I'm not so sure on is returning a specific
users list of deployments.

Currently the design isn't really that important - although, if one of
the Wildbit team had some free time I'm sure they could come up with
something amazing!

Thanks,

Danny

Danny,

Cool - well lets see if there's any other interest as people start to show up - you're quite literally the first person to join the list, congratulations on being patient zero!

Our design team is hard at work on things for Beanstalkapp - our hope is that this group can facilitate interactions and collaborations on unofficial apps and tools. We'll be keeping an eye here for feature requests and ideas for the API, though. Leon already had a good request of being able to look up a repo and deployment by name, not just by username, for his command line tool.

I think I suggested this first so I'd be up for helping. I could help
with the design side of things but my RoR chops are strictly frontend
so I wouldn't be much help interfacing with the API.

Yeah, as I say - great idea!

I'm more than happy to do the development, it may take me a while to
get my head around it though.

Here's where I am up to - https://skitch.com/dannymcc/rx2f2/beanstalkapp-deployment-dashboard-sign-in

I have pushed these changes to GitHub - https://github.com/dannyweb/Beanstalk-Deployment

Hey Danny,

I'm not too shabby at the Rails and am keen to contribute to the dev.

Lets see what we can do.

I'm waiting on a response from the beanstalkapp gem author to see if I
can iron out the first bug.

I can't get the gem to work on the latest version of active resource.

Thanks,

Danny

I suppose since it's on Github we could just fork it and work on the
aspects we like then issue pull requests when we have stuff.

Yep that should make life easier.

Also, I noticed I made the logo with the wrong letters! Should be BADD
not BAAD. Woops

I have started the base for the application and have just added
something in that I have always wanted - a changelog.

Very similar to changes.beanstalkapp.com, it will allow public viewing
of the changelog, the admin can add a revision, give it a number and
then add features and bug fixes to it.

Let me know what you think.

Hey guys,

I've implemented the basic functionality of the BeanStalk API. I had a
little trouble getting a read-write access to the repo so I ended up
just getting a read-only and doing the work locally.

I'm a little new to Git so what's the process of merging the changes
back into the main branch?
