Bibliography in two columns

How do I get bibliography divided into two columns?
I guess, I have to define somewhere bibliography block height, so the
LaTeX would know where to make a break, but I am not sure, actually,
neither how to do it nor where to use it properly. And I guess,
bibliography fontsize should be quite small in order to fit two
columns in one block.

If anybody has got idea, how to help me in the matter, I'll be very
glad for any hint.

the 'multicol' package:
