Hi, I am using beamerposter, but I would like to have a custom sized
poster, i.e., 40 in x 32 in.

Does anybody have a template which will work for this size?

Best regards, Howard

Hi Howard,

simply convert your inches to cm and use the custom option, e.g.
\usepackage[size=custom,width=40,height=32,scale=1]{beamerposter}

Almost all style templates available at
http://www-i6.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/~dreuw/latexbeamerposter.php

or the regular beamer styles should work with your setting. If not, it
should be easy to derive a working version from these style files.

Best,
Philippe

Hi,

and how about dpi in custom size? Is it always 100 dpi? Will it works for printed B1 size poster? If not is there possibility to change dpi?

Thanks

If you use vector graphics and fonts dpi doesn't matter.

I have printed posters up to sizes of 2.4m x 1.2m and never had any problems with resolutions in the fonts or in any vector graphics. If you have bitmap graphics you have to make sure to have sufficient resolution. I generally tried to have them in at least 150 dpi.

It's better to convert jpg, png and such to eps format and make poster with latex not pdflatex to PostScript file or set up some dpi (e.g 300) (if that option even exists) for output pdf and don't bother with eps?

Hi,

No. If you start from a jpg or png file there is no need to convert this. Converting into a vector format will not make it a vector graphic.
I always use pdflatex and png if available.
