to LaTeX Beamer class
Hi there,
I'm very new to beamer. I've Latex core and using TexShop as an
editor. I downloaded the beamer package but it seems that Latex can
not understand that it is there. 1. Where should I put it? 2. How can
I see and edit the address of my Latex primary folder? which probably
I need to put beamer package there.

Thanks,
Saeed

Hi,

I highly recommend using MacTeX 2011, which is based on TeX Live 2011:

Hi! I have MacTeX. Does that mean I don't need to download the class again?

Thanks!

Hi, I have Latex on  my Macbook. Do I need to have beamer to make a poster?

Bets,
Mary.

Mary,

I assume that you want to create a beamerposter in which case yes. Beamerposter uses defined beamer objects, like boxes, and themes. Of course though, there are other poster generation packages but none quite as good as beamerposter.

To the OP. I would play around with your folders like in this (very quick) google search.

What you are aiming to do is place the libraries where your default latex library folder is. I do not know what that is on the mac but a simple search of "mac latex base directory" led me to
