Hi everyone!

My name is Igor Wilbert and I'm a computer science student from Brazil. You might have seen a previous post I made asking about how to apply to GSOC 2019 as a student. I was looking for the rules to apply as a mentor but I couldn't find much. I thought it would be nice to make some sort of FAQ for those interested in being mentors for GSOC too. Sorry if these questions are answered somewhere else, I just couldn't find it. Can anyone help me answering these questions?

1 - Does anyone from BEAM Community can be a mentor?

2 - Is there a place where people can put their names as potential mentors (maybe separated by project)?

3 - Are there any technical background requirements for being a mentor (I suppose yes, since their help is very important for the students)?

4 - Is there any application form or something similar you have to fill to become a mentor? If yes, what are the deadlines?

Thanks!

Igor

Yes, given the conditions below:

* If you have your own project, you just need to send an e-mail to this mailing list asking the project to be included in the BEAM Community
* If you want to be a mentor to a specific project, then you need to ask the team responsible for those projects

You can find the list of projects and potential mentors per project here: https://github.com/beamcommunity/beamcommunity.github.com/wiki

3 - Are there any technical background requirements for being a mentor (I suppose yes, since their help is very important for the students)?
4 - Is there any application form or something similar you have to fill to become a mentor? If yes, what are the deadlines?

You need to ping each project and discuss their requirements with them.
