Thank you SO much for creating this Google Group. What a GREAT idea!

Thought it might be a nice idea to introduce ourselves a little. My
name is Christine and I have a 4 year old beagle named Pluto. We live
in Bolton, ON.

Pluto is a tri-coloured beagle who suffers from epilepsy, loves long
walks (the longer, the better), fresh fallen snow, any toy with a
'squeeker' in it, any and all food except mushrooms. He's very
friendly and is very calm as far as beagles go. Everyone who meets
him who "knows" beagle can not get over his disposition. I always
explain that he was adopted. :)

What about you? What's your beagle(s) name? Where do you live? And
please tell us all a little more about the most important 4 legged
people in your lives. :)

My name is Shana and my husband Glenn and I live in the Leslieville
neighbourhood and have 2 beagle mixes - Penny and Cooper - we're not
sure what they are mixed with (foxhound? walker hound?) they just look
like huge long legged tri coloured beagles - they're the biggest at
any of the meetups! Cooper is Big on Beagles Alumni - we fostered him
for all of 2 weeks before calling Marna and saying please don't adopt
him out!

I've been really involved in the off leashes in our area and likely
know more about fencing and dog park design and city channels than
anyone would want to know. I also administer the website for our off
leash www.candgleashfree.com (which is horribly out of date!) and am
starting a community garden at the park so I can garden while my
beasties run free!

But most importantly the beagles:

Penny is a big goof, and enjoys chasing and being chased and will
steal toys to start the game off. She cherishes her stuffed animals,
especially "tiger" and comes to work with her mother at a non profit.

Cooper enjoys long walks - his halti means he doesn't pull (much)
anymore - chewing anything he can get his teeth on - diving in fresh
snow and making "snow beagles" and if given the chance will gut any of
Penny's stuffed toys. He also comes to work occassionally with his
mother but really prefers to hang out with his dog walker and his
adventure tour group.

I'm so glad this group was started - it's nice to have people to
understand these stubborn little hounds!

I'm Jenn - beagle mommy to Arthur (another Ray's Beagle), Stella and
my BOB Rescue Beagle Albert (and my Arthur is the half-sister of
geekboy's sweet little Emma). I'm also a BOB partner with Marna and
Erica. I built and now maintain www.bigonbeagles.ca on behalf of the
rescue, and also help with fundraising.

Oh, and my goal in life is to have a chunk of property where I can
start a beagle farm for wayward beagles that BOB can't find foster
homes for :)

That's so funny Jenn....that's our dream to...maybe we can work
together to start a "Beagle Town"...LOL

Now for my intro..:
We have a Beagle Princess (who fancies herself more like a queen)
Molly and in our hearts we love our boy Chance whom we lost on Sept 3
to pacreatitis. We are also fostering for B.O.B...little Bagle boy
Mortimer Muffin....

We try to make it to all of the events that Marna and her team host
for us, because we love having our beags around their own
kind...there's something so awesome about being in a room full of
beagles howling, chasing and loving each other. Also, we love to hang
out with other beagle owners...and we really love to support Marna and
all the hard work that her and Erica and Jenn do for the Beagles.
Fostering Mortimer is a great honor for us and we are grateful to
Marna that she gave us the opportunity to do it.

See ya'll soon at Toto...:-)

Denise, John, Alex, Molly & Mortimer the Bagle...:-D

I am Kim and I have an almost 2.5 year old male beagle named Marlowe.
He was rescued at 7 months and has been a training challenge. He is a
lovely boy, very friendly with people, smaller dogs and puppies, but
has some on leash aggression issues with larger dogs. He also has the
true beagle stubbornness, but consistent, patient clicker training has
helped a lot and he is rapidly becoming an excellent pet. He is a very
fast runner who loves to play fetch, keep away and just run as fast as
he can in off leash parks. We love the meetups and the chance to chat
with other beagle knowledgeable people!

I'm Julia and my husband's Warren and we have a beagle named Poppy
(ya
the fish stinker), a golden retriever named Oona and a cutie pie cat
named Tigger.

We live in Markham and spend a lot of time up north with our dogs.

I joined the beagle group because I find Poppy is the polar opposite
to Oona. Oona's one of those laid back dogs that kids can crawl on,
the cat can kneed and then sleep on and I can leave an open bag of
dog
cookies on the floor and she'd never stick her nose in the bag much
less eat the whole damn thing. She loves to be outdoors and loves
to roll around in the snow and swim all summer. We got her when she
was 11 months old from a breeder who had no use for her. Oona has
jeuvenille cataracts and is a timid pooch and the timing was perfect
as I was contacting all the good breeders in Ontario to get a golden
that was out of the puppy stage. Oona's 5 1/2.

Then last June we were driving up to the cottage and saw a little
beagle walking along the side of the road. We pulled over and this
munchkin was soaking wet and covered with bug bites, puncture wounds,
a little torn ear and some nasty scrapes. We jumped out and she
started to walk onto the road...scared the crap out of us. So I
wrapped her in a beach towel and we spent the next 90 min driving
from
house to house, store to store leaving our contact information.
Within minutes of me wrapping her up and getting into the jeep she
was
fast asleep and snoring very very loud. I ran ads in all the papers
and contacted spca etc and nobody claimed the little pooch. My vet
figured she was a dumped hunting dog. As they say the rest is
history...we fell in love instantly.
I'm also proud to say that two weeks ago Poppy passed her Theraputic
Paws testing and got her CKC Good Neighbour certificate so now she
can
join Oona and I (Oona's been a therapy dog for 3 years now) on our
visits.

She comes with challenges as I mentioned before...she's not like
Oona. So this board will be wonderful for me to share, learn and
post
our crazy beagle stories :)

Hello All

This is Duke's dad. Duke is this year's Canine Idol. We rescued him
through Barlees Angel's based out of Guelph two and a half years ago.
He's an ex-hunting dog who lived in an outdoor kennel for 3 years and
now he's a downtown doggie. We maintain a blog for him at www.bayingbeagle.com
where we blog about his transition from country rabbit hunting dog to
city dog.

My name is Erica. I'm Marna's rescue partner with BOB. I have two
dogs, Lily the English pointer, & Hayley the beagle who I found out
about through BOB. Hayley had both eyes removed due to glaucoma &
doesn't attend many meetups but I do bring her to Toto Park in
Mississauga in when the weather is warm. She loves to putter about,
nose to the ground. Bindy (my Mom's beagle, also a rescue) is a
regular at all the meetups. She has boundless energy & loves to play
with her best friend Matthew, Marna's beagle boy.
