My PC freeze up all the time while running eclipse with debian in virtual machine

First of all, sorry for my poor English. I'll do my best to explain my issue.

I  refer to the Derek's method (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9yFyWsyyGk) and build a develop environment which runs eclipse cdt with debian in  virtualbox or wmware player to develop c/c++ program. But they all freeze up all the time, that makes me very painful. Actually, the host OS(win 10) never freeze up, and the guest OS(debian 8/9) was also nice and speedy when it didn't runs eclipse. What's wrong with it? Should I quit the virtual machine instead of a  physical machine? Is there any other method to build a c/c++ develop environment for beagblebone?
