beaglebone black debian update issue

Am using beaglebone black with debian 2014-04-23 version ..and am trying to update by using   $ sudo apt-get update    ..command. But it was showing 

Reading package lists: Error!

E: Encounter a section with no package :Header

E: Package lists or status files could not be parsed or open.

I dont know what is the problem plz help me

My experience with apt-get update ; apt-get upgrade is generally poor if you've not been keeping up to date nearly continuously.

I'd suggest getting another 8GB micro-SD card and installing the latest image from beagleboard.org, or one of Robert's testing images: http://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_Debian

apt-get upgrade is currently broken or was for several images recently. Passed that, I think this is actually a stock debian arm package issue.
