Beaglebone Black Failure and analog inputs

Is there any occurrence in a specific hardware failure of a beaglebone black that primarily affects the analog inputs that they experience intermittent lockups and read failure after 30 min or an hour, to a couple of hours ?  

Does the BBB get hot after running and require cooling ? ...that could trigger a failure ?  

My board is about 2.5 years old and initially had infrequent problems related to the AIN.  For the last 8 months, the errors are constant.  Is this a problem with the am335x BGA where some connections might be problematic ?
