So I believe I have read that the dm3730 is capable of h.264 encoding
at 720p 30fps. But it seems like the codecs provided by TI are the
same ones that are used on the dm3530, and will only work up to D1
resolution.

Is anyone aware of a way to do 720p h264 encoding (using the dsp) on the DM3730?

I tried asking this question in the proper e2e forum a couple times,
but didn't get any responses.

thanks,
chris

There are commercial codecs that allow you to encode H264 BP 720p on the 3730.

Vladimir,

and do those codecs really can encode? I doubt 3730 can even decode fancy 720p

using commercial "split" codecs that run on both the GPP and the DSP, the
3730 can decode H264 HP level 3.1 720p at ~25fps

using a "split" encoder the 3730 can encode H264 BP 720p. Of course the
quality of the encoded video is not "perfect" and yields a rather high
bitrate ...
