Hi,
First, the config :
------------------------------
Beagle (Angstrom Demo image), connected to Windows (USB/RNDIS).
Beagle IP : 192.168.1.15, netmask : 255.255.255.0
Windows IP : 192.168.1.10, netmask : 255.255.255.0 (Network Sharing
enabled and Firewall disabled).
------------------------------
The problem : Windows is able to Ping Beagle but the other way is not
possible (route add default gw, on beagle configured for the Windows
Host). When I debugged it using Wireshark (Ethereal), I found that
while pinging from Beagle, ARP is being sent (which is OK) and the
Windows PC is replying with its MAC address fine. But still
BeagleBoard is sending ARP again and again. Is the beagle not able to
update its arp tables etc ? Is there a way to configure a static arp
entry (like arp -s on windows) and will it help ?
Here is the Ethereal Trace sumarry for pings initiated from
BeagleBoard...

9 17:24:37.626 7e:f2:ad:a0:69:66 9e:c6:03:7a:d7:01 ARP Who has
192.168.1.10? Tell 192.168.1.15 (ARP Request)
10 17:24:37.626 9e:c6:03:7a:d7:01 7e:f2:ad:a0:69:66 ARP 192.168.1.10
is at 9e:c6:03:7a:d7:01 (ARP Response from Windows PC)

Pls help...

Regards

Sorry but I forgot to mention that I was trying to get the VNC server running on BeagleBoard to export display to my Windows Box as I do not have a DVI monitor.(http://groups.google.com/group/beagleboard/browse_thread/thread/f8d105e182f69f29/60979e58adc51f13?lnk=gst&q=vnc&pli=1)... Please help.

Do you have a Windows firewall enabled that is blocking pings?

What is the behavior when you attempt to make the VNC connection (which would initiate on the Windows host)?

Are you running XP or Vista?

No, I have the firewal disabled... I am running Windows XP.
Actually, I didn't install VNC as yet since the first step of reaching the Windows Host (as mentioned in your guide) is not successful.

I assume that the Windows PC is not blocking the Ping since from Wireshark traces, the first step towards ICMP i.e. ARP is being replied fine by the windows host, with its MAC address... Problem is that ARP requestes from Beagle still keep coming...

Hi,

There is one more sympton to add...
Wireshark (running on windows side) shows that the ARP requests are also not coming very frequently but only after a long interval (3-4 seconds or more). Is there something I can do to diagnose the problem on Angstrom side ? Does it have some builtin packet sniffer etc ?

I am desperate to see the Beagle GUI output but not having a DVI monitor and also not able to run VNC is taking its toll :)
