I have been having problems as shown above. After talking with a user I have determined that it may be due to the fact that the system is using a theme that has 24-bit colors. The system can only output at 16 and the theme may cause the problems shown if correct. Does anyone know a source for .obt themes? I would also be interested in confirming that they are "16-bit".
I have installed the engines needed via:
sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-*.
