Hello
I'm interested in participating in GSOC '17 and have been exploring bbb for a month now.I have gone through the Ideas list given on their wiki pages and their official sites and liked a few of them too.But I think a lot of them are currently inactive ,so firstly I would love to hear if anyone's working on a project to which I can start contributing.
Secondly I was thinking can we use BBB to make a mobile phone which can dual boot android and some other unix based os basically for coders for whom carrying a laptop is a pain but they love to code while travelling or while in cafe but are unable to carry their phones along with them. There will be a lot of aspects associated with this as thee battery life, size ,the LCD and a lot more. But if this idea has any potential I am ready to research on all that. Please do help me and let me know if it seems like a feasible idea as I would love to have such a device which works as my phone and when required as my laptop.Even if the battery lasts upto 4-5 hours I think that won't be an issue as it's built for that purpose .It should support all basic features provided by an android smartphone (obviously which it will if it boots Android) and should have a decent camera quality.
Please do respond if anyone's interested in mentoring this project or mentoring some other project in BBB for GSOC 2017
Regards
