How "real-time"? video sync/streaming?

to Beacon - Push service for creating real-time web apps
Hey, Beacon looks nice. I've played enough with push to know it's a
headache.

Wondering a little about latency. Use case: live streaming video on a
site with other elements that need to change on my cues (example:
advance to next slide); there is a 'controller' client that clicks
triggers, all other users are using a 'viewer' client that receives
Beacon push messages. Assuming I account for the video buffering, what
kind of margin-of-error (milliseconds/seconds) should I be looking at?

Thanks

Hi!

That all depends on your latency to our servers. The server-side processing of the message itself is less than 10 ms.
Our servers are located in the US at Amazon, in their east coast data center. So for example, with our peering from Sweden to the US east coast we get a latency of around 170 ms.
Meaning, we can't get messages delivered faster than that. But if you are located closer to our data center or have better peering, you'll of course get faster delivery.

In other words, it depends.
