VAM SYSTEMS is currently looking for Sr. Oracle DBA for our Qatar
operations with the following skill set and terms and conditions:
Skills set required:
• 6+ years of qualitative experience in oracle database
administration
• Banking experience is mandatory.
• Oracle Certification in Database Administration (OCP-DBA) 10g and
above
• Installing Oracle server and client software, creating, upgrading
and patching databases in Linux, Windows and AIX environments.
• Designing and Architecture of Databases.
• Data Modeling, Database Design and Creation.
• Experience in Upgrade and Migration of oracle database to higher
version (from 9i and 10G) in multi platforms.
• Periodic Patching of database
• Working with the Development team to fix the problems in
Applications.
• Sound knowledge and experience in SQL and PL/SQL
• Performance Tuning of database which includes sql optimization,
Oracle INIT.ORA, Oracle SGA, I/O balancing and memory.
• Tuning Oracle databases and tuning applications (SQL), for tuning
SQL working closely with development team.
• Extensive familiarity with Tuning Tools like Oracle Enterprise
Manager's (OEM's), SQL analyzer, Statspack, AWR and TOAD. For SQL
tuning using "Explain plan", "TKPROF", "SQL_TRACE", Optimizer
modes, using Optimizer hints, Gathering statistics etc.
• Proficiency with Tuning the SGA, Buffer Cache, Rollback Segments,
Redo Mechanisms, Monitoring and Detecting Locks.
• Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming. Includes, creating
database objects like creating tables, views, indexes, constraints,
sequences, functions, procedures, packages, triggers, PL/SQL blocks,
partitioned tables, etc.
• Planning, scheduling and taking Oracle backups.
• Expert skills in database backups and Recovery strategies using
RMAN, Export/Import, Cold, Hot backups.
• Successfully implemented physical standby database using Oracle
Data Guard feature for High availability configuration.
• Proficiency in creating clone database.
• Installation, Configuration and deployment of Oracle 10g database
and Real Application Clusters (RAC) on different nodes with
Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
• Real Application Clusters monitoring, tuning, load balancing using
OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager), Statspack, and V$ dynamic views.
• Fulfill DBA daily activities including user management (creating
users, synonyms, privileges, roles, quotas, table, index, sequence
etc.),space management (table space, undo segment), monitoring (alert
log, memory,disk I/O, CPU, database network connectivity).
• Worked closely with developers, provided Oracle DBA support and
technical support for multiple applications in development, Test, QA,
UAT and production environments.
• Good experience in UNIX/Linux SHELL Scripting.
• Active Team Player capable of working in high-pressure environments.
Have good Technical team Leadership, Presentation skills and Inter-
personal skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Skill Set

• Exposure to other RDBMS like Sybase, MS SQL and DB2
• Exposure to Oracle Apps
• Oracle Forms and Reports
• Java and .Net applications
• Exposure to VM environment
• Automating routine tasks and alerts
