With 20 million Francs up for grabs : contest of innovation in the Massif Central

launched by an industrialization commission from the DATAR (Delegation for
territorial management and regional action), the ADIMAC (Association for
industrial development in the Massif Central) and the SOFIMAC (The Massif
Central's finance company), a capital risk company. The goal of the contest
is to reinforce central France's activity in three sectors : biotechnology,
information technology and new material and procedures.
Open to all businesses under 7 years old and to anyone who has a project of
starting a business based on innovative technologies in the 3 activity
sectors mentioned above, and located outside of central France, this contest
will allot up to 20 million Francs to selected projects.
Seven prizes will be attributed. The first prize in innovation will be
allotted 5 million Francs ! The prizes are made possible thanks to funds
from the SOFIMAC, the French government and funds from the communities
concerned with project locations.
The contest begins October 15th and will close December 31st, 1999. This
vast territory, a symbol of hope, has created during the past 10 years a
promising financial and scientific environment, favorable to innovative,
developing small and medium sized industrial businesses, thanks to a synergy
between the economical actors of the public and private sectors.
