February carries a special place in our hearts. It reminds us who we are, where we come from, and the priceless gift of our mother language. With this spirit, Newcastle Bangla School and Newcastle Bangladeshi Community (NBC) warmly invite all Bangladeshi residents of Newcastle and the surrounding areas to join us in celebrating International Mother Language Day 2026.

This will be a meaningful, family-friendly morning where we come together to honour our language, our history, and the sacrifices made by the language martyrs of 1952.
🌼 Program Highlights
Collective tribute: Setting up a wooden replica of the Shaheed Minar together, symbolising unity and remembrance
Community breakfast: Barbecue breakfast and sausage sizzle to start the day together
Reflection: A short discussion on the history and significance of International Mother Language Day
Cultural expression: Poetry recitation by children and adults, celebrating the Bangla language and identity
We especially encourage parents to bring their children. This is a wonderful opportunity for the next generation to connect with the language, values, and history that define us as a community.
