BBMP is now issuing Khata.

if you are looking to get khata for sites located in former CMC areas
now under BBMP, BBMP is now issuing khatas. Contact the appropriated
BBMP office (based on where your site is located).

here is the information we obtained:
1. You will need the sale deed from the time of registration of your
site.
2. You will need a copy of the sale deed from the sale to the previous
owner.
3. Encumberance certificate for the last 15 years.
4. and a registration khata (can someone please explain what this is?)

The cost is 2% of the stamp duty paid when you registered your site.

According to this official, it takes 8-10 days to obtain it.

When folks obtain, please post your experience and any more
information that could help others obtain the khata.

I talked one official and he is quoting around 12k(bribe) rupees+6k
(all fees)
for a 30x50 site khatha to be done for a CMC site.

Is this ok , I feel its too much, Please let me know what you think

I am sorry I don't know all these details. I know it has become a
practice all around to take bribes, but he is asking for 2 times the
actual fees? That sounds a little outrageous.

But there were some articles in apartment adda, and other such
postings that said, people have done it without any bribes. THe only
thing is you need time and patience on your side. If you are willing
to run around a bit, you can do it without any bribes.

It might be time for us common folk to fight this. I guess there is a
PR office in BBMP that is supposed to take our complaints. What you
should do is - first find out the exact details of what is needed to
get the khata - the documents etc. obtain everything and file the
application, and if during that time someone demands a bribe, call the
PR office, and send a complaint to the the complaints number / email
provided on BBMP site and see how they respond to it. Keep a copy of
all the information exchanged (the conversation with the official who
told you what is needed, and a copy of your application and associated
documents provided, the interchange when you were asked to pay the
bribe - keep names, dates and time, location and contact info if
available and also the complaints you sent to BBMp regarding the
demand for bribe.). If you get a response and the work is done - all
good. if not, send that to the papers, TV, internet etc. so that the
commissioner will have to respond to it - if he wants to save face.

Also, where is your site located (meaning which BBMP does it fall
under).

CMC - any news on this. I had heard that BBMP was very busy with the
elections. I guess teh elections are over now, it may be a better time
to try for it.

I am thinking of working on Khata application soon.
