Program doesn't find socket.cfg

Hello,

I'm trying to run the example of E+ in combination with simulink
controller on a win7 (32) system.
The problem seems to be more with E+, rather than socket timeout at
bcvtb. E+ doesn't find the file 'socket.cfg', despite the fact that I
can see the file in the same directory as the *.idf file.
The error message I'm getting when running the simulation in E+ is
following:

** Severe ** ExternalInterface: Did not find file "socket.cfg".
** ~~~ ** This file needs to be in same directory as in.idf.

Does it has to do with .idf file or may be something else?

Hi

Did you try to delete the socket.cfg file and the in.idf file prior to starting the bcvtb? If E+ can find and read the in.idf file, I don't see why it should not be able to find and read the socket.cfg file. Deleting the files may help you in making sure that you work with the correct files, and are checking the correct directory.

You can also debug the problem by putting write statements in bcvtb/bin/RunEPlus.bat, which is the batch file used by the BCVTB to run E+.

Hi!

Thanks for your help. Now E+ doesn't find the in.idf file. I was able
to run the example file, but it also complained about missing Energy
+.ini
However, E+ didn't start the simulation of any other .idf file
(reporting the missing in.idf).
I've checked the E+ manual, but couldn't find much info about how to
manage this issue.

Walle,

Please make sure that the example that you are running is for
EnergyPlus version that is installed on your PC. As I understood,
there are two types of examples for EnergyPlus: one for Version 6 and
another for version 5. This can be found out by carefully reading the
names of the example files: some examples include (50) and others
include (60).

i m facing same problem ...energy+.ini  file is missing this error can be resolved . like i was using 8.6 verion , i want to use use anoher file whivh is in older version i updateded then energy+.ini itself generate in eplus directory...kindly telll me about socket.cfg error which u describe above ....
