All women students of computing and related subjects1 are invited to enter one of the poster contests at the BCSWomen Lovelace Colloquium.
This will be held on April 8th, 2020, at the University of Stirling (with support from Glasgow University).
To enter the poster contest, you will have to write a 250 word abstract on the topic of your poster.
Your abstract can be on any computing topic you like. We’ve had submissions on everything from social networking to quantum computing; from medical image processing to wearables (complete with an arduino powered skirt). If it involves computers, we’re interested. If you aren’t sure what a 250 word abstract looks like, we have some samples of abstracts from previous years.
The poster contests are as follows:
We hope to be able to offer people’s choice prizes as well as first and second place in each category.
The best 100 or so abstracts received will get travel bursaries, meaning that we’ll refund your transport costs, and an overnight stay if that’s necessary for you to attend (for example – if you’re coming from Southampton, we’ll pay for 2 nights accommodation, but if you’re coming from Glasgow we’ll only refund your train fare).
To submit your abstract, please fill in this form : form for submission of abstracts
The deadline for abstract submission is 31 January 2020.
1We interpret “Related subjects” very broadly – in the past, we have had students following courses in computer arts, cognitive science, information systems, and a large number of different joint/major/minor programmes of study. If you’re not sure, drop the organisers an email on bcswomen...@gmail.com, we’ll probably say “yes”.
