Howdy,
I'll be presenting this month on Guiding Object-Oriented Design with Tests. The summary of the presentation follows.
A test suite is a very useful tool in any application. Often times people refer to unit test suites as a safety net for refactoring and modification. While that is one benefit of having a comprehensive testing strategy and implementation, the real power of unit testing comes when you learn to allow the tests you are writing to inform the design of your application.
In this session we will explore the why and how of writing tests for code architecture and object-oriented design purposes. We will follow the path of designing objects within a realistic problem domain.
Come on out and network with your fellow developers, managers, and other interested folks from the Bryan/College Station area.
If you have a topic you'd like to hear about or, even better, something you'd like to present, please get in touch with me or Brian Zwahr so we can work on scheduling.
Finally, don't forget that LoneStarPHP conference (
http://lonestarphp.com is happening in April. If you are interested in speaking at the event, the Call for Papers is open for another week. Even if you don't want to speak I highly encourage you to find a way to attend. It has been a great event the past three years and always brings in great speakers on relevant topics. Talk your boss into sending you this year. You won't regret it.
Sincerely,
Jeff Carouth
