Walk for Mental Health Awareness 10/6
The Houston Walk for Mental Health Awareness will take place this coming Saturday, October 6th in Stude Park (1031 Stude St., Houston TX 77007). Our group has been asked to help with the Soji Ceremony at 6:30am which will help the walk get started. Beverly Steele will be coordinating volunteer sign-up for the event. Psychminded Picnic 10/6
Come join the PsychMinded officers at Hermann Park on Saturday, October 6th at 12pm for an afternoon of food and fun. We’ll be situated at the tables near the Miller Outdoor Theatre. Feel free to drop by any time between 12pm to 2pm. This event will serve as a nice study break and a great way for students to discuss all things psychiatry with upperclassmen in an informal setting.
Gender Infinity Conference- 10/5-10/6
Learn about transgender and LGBT healthcare at the Gender Infinity Conference this October 5th & 6th at the University of Houston Student Center (4302 University Dr, Houston, TX 77004). There will be workshops on the latest information on gender affirming care and support. Student registration fees are $25 for 1-day attendance and $35 for 2-day attendance. Register now!

Annual BCM Wellness 5K- 10/13
Join the Department of Psychiatry's Team at the annual BCM Wellness 5K taking place on Saturday, October 13th in the Texas Medical Center. Psychiatry residents and faculty will be participating, and Dr. David Mathai, PGY-2 is coordinating the psychiatry team.

Join Psychminded and Baylor & UT McGovern psychiatry residents for a screening of Unsane on October 30th from 6-9pm. Dr. Shorter will be leading a discussion of the film. Details forthcoming, & food will be provided!
Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies Program- 9/17-12/10
We are looking for medical student and resident volunteers for our community outreach mental health program at Sutton Elementary. Two volunteers teach 5th graders from 3:15-4:30pm during each Monday after-school session. All teaching materials provided. Sign up now!
