Last evening (17th) I was out at a known Great Grey Owl site with friends. Pretty soon we got a glimpse of two birds and eventually saw both. This one posed nicely and despite the dark conditions - it was abou18.15hrs I managed a nice image which I feel conveys habitat as well as subject . Quite surprising really considering the shutter speed. I was pressing hard against a tree trunk! It enlarges quite well.

Nikon Cool Pix 520 1000mm equivalent 40th sec @f5.9 ISO 800.
