I got a call from somebody who found a birdband attached to a leg of a small bird of unknown species.  The leg was all that was left of the bird.
What is the best place to send the band or info to?

Hi Peter,

You may report a band here: https://www.fws.gov/birds/surveys-and-data/bird-banding/reporting-banded-birds.php    Canadian and US share data. I would however be interested in the band number as depending on where you live ( not on email!) it might be one of mine, one of the CWS or one of Doug Brown's from Vaseux.

Hi Barry,

The band was found south of Armstrong not far from Otter Lake.
If the no was read correctly,it is:
704 CUNBRC/2012 .
I'm curious if it was one of yours and what species.
The person who  found it is Kerry Johnston,ph:250-546 8453.
He has no email, but doesn't mind being phoned.

Peter

That looks like a racing pigeon band. I suggest trying the local club if there is one. It is definitely not a Canadian/US federal band. Pigeon legs are quite distinctive!

Ringing Kerry means an international call. May I rely on you to pass details please.

Thanks Barry,
I will pass it on.
I forgot you are in your winter abode!

I just noticed that it came via the google pics group. Did you attach a photo of the leg? Or did you mean to send it to bcintbird - yahoo?
