Hey Folks,

Yay summer! If you haven't stopped in during open hours yet, you
should! It's really great to sit around and chat about ideas and
projects in shade of the space. And we have some free bubblegum.
When you're here you can pick up a beautiful handmade-by-Rebekah
brochure with a calendar, map and wish list. And some bubble gum.
Free bubble gum.

We are so excited that things are going so well! We've seen this space
grow exponentially in the few months that it has been open, and we are
eager to see how it will develop and thrive in the coming months.
We're working on lots of new programming ideas and we've heard so many
great ones from you. Remember that this is an open space for you to
plant those ideas, cultivate them and make them happen.

As we continue to grow, we pick up speed. We are working hard on
getting our nonprofit status, reaching out to the community in our
neighborhood as well as to other communities throughout Durham,
meeting with local activists and creating more programming. With this
growth comes added "to do's" and so we're putting out a concrete call
for volunteers! We need help (and these are just some ideas):
flyering for events, running programming, "spreading the word" and
tracking down local groups or individuals that want to create
programming, running open hours, getting hold of a resource book,
sending out press releases, finding groups that want to rent out the
space for meetings/classes etc, organizing and running fundraising
events, getting local business sponsorship for stuff like wireless,
hanging art exhibits, web design, and getting our own BCHQ Taco Truck
and Moonwalk Combination Station.

Lets make this happen! If you want to become a volunteer at BCHQ, here
are the easy steps: First, fill out a volunteer application, so we
know who you are and what you're good at. Volunteer applications can
be picked up at the space anytime we are open. They will also be up
soon on our spiffy new website (www.bullcityhq.org). Then, come to our
first volunteer orientation meeting on July 13th at 7pm. We will be
having these once every month or so. It will be important that you
come to one before you start volunteering so that we can make sure
that everyone is on the same page.

And real quick, as for the upcoming events we've got. . ..

Sun June 24th and July 1st: 1-6: Durham Bike Coop

Wed June 27th 7-9: Trekky Records and Megafaun merch reps are host a
DIY Merch Night

Fri June 29th 7:30: Drag Show Open Mic / Queer Youth Drop-in Planning

. . .. . and we're open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning

We love Durham! Thanks for all that you do!

Yours,

Catherine and the BCHQ crew

PS. In order to keep everyone up to date on everything going on in the
space, we are going to start posting summaries of the minutes from our
meetings, or financial accounts and a record of the letters that we
send (http://www.bullcityhq.blogspot.com/).

PSS. We don't really need a Taco Truck Moonwalk Combination Station.
