A teacher is interested in using Online Accounting software for high school students to learn accounting.  There seems to be a big list to choose from these days:

Does anyone have any recommendations for BC/Canada?

Hi Dean,

I taught accounting for many years using the 'old' Flexware software
which was located in Calgary
and integrated very tightly with our accounting textbooks (Century
21). However, that was in the
olden' days. The other advantage of the software was that posting
errors could be corrected without having
to add more correcting entries to correct the correcting entries, etc.
etc.(grin)

It might be worth checking out, since it is much more 'pedagogically
useful' than ugliness like Simply Accounting,
etc.

i recommend GNUcash http://www.gnucash.org/  as it is quite likely the largest opensource accounting community, very stable software, largest userbase, and students would be able to continue after the course is over , to handle their personal accounting and small business accounting without being directed to commercial software.

For an offline software that is a great choice.

On the more complex side there is also sqlledger which is GPL licensed.
