Dear Saima Apa,

Greetings!

We need two documents from your end as the GFCT suggested to submit these two docs with GC8 FRs. The documents are following:
  • Gender assessment and Human Rights Progress Assessment, UNAIDS

  • Social Protection Measure for sex workers, UNAIDS

We shall be grateful if you kindly send these two documents at your earliest convenience.

HIV PRs also requested to send these two docs if they have in their collection.

With best regards

Manaj

Dear Manaj da,

As requested, please find attached the following documents:
1. Final draft of the "Gender Assessment for HIV program to promote evidence-based strategic approaches addressing gender inequalities" (File name: 070426_Rprt-BGD Gender Assessment_rvsd)
2. Its costed plan (Excel file),
3. The study on "Intersecting HIV Vulnerabilities: The Impact of Stimulant Drug Use among Female Sex Workers and their Clients in Bangladesh" (File name: Report-Stimulant Drug Use among FSW_210125).
4. The powerpoint presentations of these studies for your conveinience
5. A summary of the Gender Assessment study (File name: Bangladesh_HIV_Gender_Assessment_Brief)
6. An advocacy brief for the Sex Workers Network (File name: FSW_Bangladesh_Brief)
7. The report on, "Assessment on the livelihood and human rights situation among the FSWs to understand the barriers to accessing health, social and legal services to address their individual well-being in selected areas of Bangladesh" (File name: 1. Bangladesh- FSW Study Report)
8. The policy brief and the powerpoint presentation on the FSW assessment
9. The presentation on "Dissemination Meeting on Assessment Findings for Reprioritization for GC8 Suggestions and Advocacy Messages" (File name: 180426_ND Meeting_Final)

Please be informed that the gender assessment took place across Dhaka, Chittagong, Coxs bazar, Munshiganj and Rajbari and conducted a total of 11 FGDs with women engaged in sex work (WESW: Hotel, Residence and Street, Brothel), women who use drugs (WWUD), women living with HIV, WESW within Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN), men who inject drugs (MWID), Networks of community-led organizations and key populations (CLO, KP), KPs in non-intervention areas (where HIV prevention is not ongoing) were held. KIIs with a Health Reporter, National Human Rights Commission, Police Authority, Migrant Authority, Civil Surgeon, Hospital Authority, Director NASC, Program Office from the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA), and UN Partners were also conducted; and 1 consultation with HIV implementers (ASP and SCI) was held. The information collection period was from October to December, 2024. It is planned that the draft will be finalized once the gender assessment among gender diverse people is completed (which is being conducted by icddr,b). It is expected that the findings from these assessments will comprise a joint report. During the same time, the costed implementation will also be finalized.

The gender assessment, the stimulant drug use study and the assessment among FSW were validated so suggestions could be made for GC8 support and future advocacy by the Sex Workers Network. If you have any confusion regarding these documents or the process, please feel free to contact me.

Warm regards,

Saima
