This is a very long email; you may ignore it if you are not going to the YHB invite on March 30 and April 1 (next Saturday/Sunday). This is a big 8-team tourney hosted by YHB that's at a pretty high level--a few of the teams that crushed us at Tidewater will be there, so it's going to be intense.

In case you have not already heard, because we don't have enough people to send a full team to the invite, we're combining with Cardinal O'Hara for the weekend (they're also low on numbers). I've talked to their coach, it sounds like they're at about the same skill level we are (i.e. several levels below everyone else at the tournament).

These people have told me that they can go to the invite:
Adrian Dicker
Johnny Malloy
Jake Ullman
Mark Olinger (maybe)
Teddy Weisman

If you are not on this list, but you are around this weekend, then let me or Aubrey know ASAP so we can let the tournament people know how many burritos we're going to need (yes, burritos. See below).

The bracket for the weekend is up at http://scores.usaultimate.org/scores/#youth-open/tournament/10421 (we're playing with O'Hara). First game's at 9:00, and we'll want to be there early especially since we're playing with unfamiliar folks. We'll talk rides/fees at practice tomorrow.

Additional information provided by tournament directors is below:

YHB – Invitational

Dear parents and players,

We are excited to welcome you and your team to the 2012 YHB Invitational. This year, ALL boys games will be played on brand new, artificial turf fields at Long Bridge Park in Arlington, Virginia – not far from Reagan National Airport (see directions below). This email will provide you with essential information for the day of the game:

The first boys game will begin, rain or shine, at 9:00 sharp on Saturday, March 30, please plan on arriving well in advance of your first scheduled game.
  • Parking: There is ample parking in the designated lot at the field BUT there is a parking fee. These are metered spaces and you will be required to display a parking voucher that you purchase from a vending machine. The machine takes credit cards. The cost is $1.25 per hour from 8am – 6pm, or $12.50 for the day. Parking is free on Sunday. We understand that free parking is available on the weekends at 2011 11th St, South , walking distance from the fields.
  • Bagels: We will have complementary bagels and bananas for visiting teams at the concession table in the parking lot. We also plan to have coffee on hand for the parents and coaches. HOWEVER, no food or beverages are allowed on the field at any time, including snacks which you or your players may have packed for the game. This includes any snack bars, energy bars, Gatorade, etc.
  • Bathrooms: There are nice bathrooms available at the field.
  • Water: Water will be available at the field.
  • Burritos: The YHB Invite has a reputation for providing burritos and we will continue the tradition again this year. A burrito truck will arrive in the evening on the 6th street side of the field; time of delivery has yet to be determined but will be around 6:00pm. Note: we provide the first burrito for players, coaches and drivers. Additional burritos and beverages will be available for purchase.  Again no food will be allowed on the field.
  • Medical care: The closest hospital is Arlington Hospital Center. Printed directions will be provided to drivers at the field.
  • Seating: There are no bleachers at these fields, so you will want to bring a chair or a beach towel. If it is a sunny day, sun protection is also recommended.
  • The last several years YHB has been hit hard by cancer, so this year we are doing a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) through Team In Training.  We will be having an auction for some VC schwag and would be happy to take whatever donations to LLS you would like to give. So bring your checkbooks!!
  • If you have requested housing with a YHB family, you can expect a separate email with your team’s housing details.  Your host families can help you with directions to the fields from their homes.
  • We will also be selling Five Ultimate Apparel -- so again, remind your players to bring schwag $$.

We look forward to welcoming you and your team to the 2012 YHB Invite. Have a safe trip and let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

The YHB Parents and Coaches

PS. Your field captains, Peter Hage or Kit Arthur, will be on hand at the field to answer any questions you may have.

A final note for those of you who scrolled all the way to the bottom of the email: jerseys have been shipped and are on their way, ETA uncertain. We'll let you know.

I'm out of town on March 31st (I think that's what you meant to write for Saturday), but I am able and very willing to play on April 1st.

I can make it on Saturday, but not Sunday. It would also be great if I could get a ride.

Same thing as Saul. I can do it only on Saturday. It would be
preferable if I could get a ride but my dad could give me and two
other kids a ride if necessary. Cool beans.
