PRAY FOR SOCIETY

1Tim 2:1-4 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

God desires all to be saved. And how can they be saved but by coming to the knowledge of the truth. And how are they going to get the knowledge of the truth? "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" Rom 10:14,15 But much of the world, both then and now, has been hostile to the public proclamation of the gospel.

So pray for those in authority around the world - that they may allow Christians to live the Christian life - proclaiming the gospel; calling sin for what it is; and living godly lives free from persecution. Pray especially for Islamic countries where it is illegal to preach the gospel, and conversion is punishable by death. It is written "The king‘s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases." Pr 21:1 Pray that God may do so with regards to regimes hostile to the practice of Biblical Christianity. And give thanks where you see authority figures practicing justice, righteousness and love, and ways in which they are providing for the freedom of Christians to live the Christian life.

"Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." Jer 29:7
