Fits of Rage

Gal 5:19-21 “...fits of rage... those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

In modern idiomatic terms this is know as "going ballistic", which is to become irrationally enraged, or "going postal', which introduces violence to such a rage. To do so characteristically would indicate such a person is bound for hell. Much as violent video games encourage such behavior, “Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city.” Pr 16:32 But perhaps that example doesn't do justice to the concept. For the practice of violence in video games is often not born of a fit of rage but of a callous disregard for that which mimics human life. A fit of rage is most often born of suffering humiliation in some fashion and reacting to it very badly. Thus when Jesus healed on the Sabbath in violation of the man-made regulation of the religious elite, “they were filled with rage, and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.” Acts 4:25
