Dear climate movement friends and allies,

Given that the media and even our movement have largely failed to articulate the connections between the blizzards hitting our beloved Boston and human-induced climate chaos, I have put out a Call to Action for TOMORROW (Sunday 2/22) for a Boston Climate Emergency Corps Day of Service (see details below).  Please help this effort take off by Taking Action (see action items below), and email bostoncli...@gmail.com if you'd like to get more involved in planning activities or have ideas for this campaign.  This Day of Service is not just a one-time social media effort, but also a vehicle to move folks into continued service (we'll still have post-storm response needs after tomorrow), as well as community engagement on the ground to continue to raise the profile of these issues.  Thank you for anything you can do to participate and help spread the word!

Best,
Adi

TAKE ACTION for the Climate Emergency Day of Service on 2/22!
CALL TO ACTION: Boston Climate Emergency Corps Day of Service, Sunday 02/22/15

As recent blizzards stretch our beloved city to a breaking point*, the media has absolutely failed** to connect the dots between human-caused climate chaos and these insane storms. It's time to change these dynamics and treat this situation like the climate emergency it is by stepping up to serve our communities.

Sunday will be a positively summery 40 degrees -- a perfect day for us to finally start connecting the dots and truly digging out of this mess (even with rain showers in the forecast).  RSVP for the Day of Service here and invite everyone you know to join you in committing to shoveling out part of your block, delivering groceries to seniors who can't navigate snow-choked sidewalks, anything to serve your community and help it recover in the wake of these storms (send your ideas to bostoncli...@gmail.com). Invite your friends and neighbors to join you and tell them why you're doing this so we can educate and engage the broader public. The more people who join this effort, the more attention we will bring to these critical issues -- and we will build positive relationships with our neighbors, bounce back from our current mess, and make our communities more resilient to future climate catastrophes.

It's time for all of us to do our civic duty and step up to serve our communities. If not now, when? Are we not #BostonStrong?

Follow @BosClimateCorps on Twitter for updates and tweet using #BostonClimateEmergency and #BostonStrong to help spread this Call to Action via social media.

This is an all-hands-on-deck moment and we need all the help and creative ideas we can get to maximize participation in this campaign and get the media to pay attention to these issues. Please email bostoncli...@gmail.com if you're interested in getting involved.
This Day of Service is not just a one-time social media effort, but also a vehicle to move people into continued service (we'll still have post-storm response needs after tomorrow), as well as community engagement on the ground to continue to raise the profile of these issues.

Working together, we can overcome climate chaos and make our communities stronger. We are the ones we have been waiting for, and the time is now. Together, we can truly be #BostonStrong.
